About The Candidate
Hello and welcome. I'm Chris Claypole, and I am running for the West Virginia State Senate in Senate District 2 for the upcoming 2026 Election. As a typical native West Virginian, I was born and raised in Monongalia County. For just over a year, I have lived in the small town of Mannington in Marion County with my wonderful wife and our three cats, enjoying the relative peacefulness of small-town life. It certainly helps to have wonderful neighbors, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Throughout my professional life, I have split my time between commissioned sales and management, as well as working in the behavioral and mental health field. This experience has provided me with a firsthand understanding of the daily struggles we all face as residents of West Virginia. I have personally encountered situations where I had to decide which bills to pay on time due to low paychecks and had to go without necessary medication and medical care because of a lack of coverage. These life experiences give me valuable insight into the common challenges we face in our state.
When I’m not working, you can typically find me being the tinkerer I was raised to be. My granddad instilled in me both the skills and the sense of self-reliance to handle my own repairs whenever possible. This has led me to purchase a home over 100 years old, which I am currently renovating to restore its charm. If I’m not busy with renovations, you’ll probably catch me traveling around West Virginia, capturing photographs of all the scenic spots we are fortunate to have.
My stance on Key issues
Education
Education is the cornerstone of our society, and as we approach the 2026 Election, it is imperative that we focus on improving public education in West Virginia. For too long, our state has struggled with inadequate funding, leaving our schools in dire need of repair to ensure equal access and achievements for all students. The teachers in Senate District 2, like those throughout West Virginia, are woefully undercompensated for the incredible work they do on tight budgets. We must address and improve standards for staffing ratios, classroom sizes, and a long list of other metrics. Our children deserve the best opportunities we can provide, and that starts with supporting initiatives like Claypole For WV in the West Virginia State Senate.
Healthcare
Healthcare is a right of all people in West Virginia, especially as we approach the 2026 Election. Addressing the PEIA issues, providing in-home care and nursing home care for our state's aging population, and the need for supplemental food programs are critical for the health and wellness of the people in Senate District 2. Families across West Virginia often go without proper care due to financial burdens, and this must change for the better. Claypole For WV believes in prioritizing these needs in the West Virginia State Senate.
Infrastructure
West Virginia is in serious need of proper infrastructure improvement, especially as we approach the 2026 Election. Our roads, water and sewage systems, electrical grid, and communications are all lagging behind not only our neighboring states but the rest of the country. We deserve clean water, no sewage backing up into our homes, affordable electricity, and reliable access to communication as we look forward to the future with candidates like Claypole For WV in Senate District 2 for the West Virginia State Senate.
